The Rev. Amy Lignitz Harken

Rev. Amy Lignitz Harken has been pastor since March 2011, when she re-located from the Midwest with her husband, Bruce. Rev. Lignitz Harken, who is also a Certified Spiritual Director, is passionate about teaching and spiritual formation, as well as working with lay leaders to create uplifting and meaningful worship experiences. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University, and her Master’s of Divinity from the University of Chicago. A former journalist, Rev. Lignitz Harken enjoys writing, and is the author of two books and numerous articles. She and Bruce are also finding much joy in New England’s outdoor lifestyle including hiking and kayaking.

Michelle Gordon
Director of Music

Michelle Gordon has been the Director of Music since 2015.   She has been involved in music at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church since 1986 when she began as the Organist.   She is a Certified Member of the Music Teacher’s National Association, has been a Private Piano Teacher in Mattapoisett since 1991. She is a Past President of the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, and was voted  “MMTA Teacher of the Year” in 2009. Michelle is also a contributor to “Keyboard Companion” and “American Music Teacher’s” magazines, and is a frequent presenter at MTNA Conferences and a member of the Technology Committee of the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and also presents at their Conferences.   Along with her passion for piano teaching, she also has a great love for collaborative music in the church, and truly believes that all God’s children have a place in the choir!  She enjoys directing our 3-octave bell and chime choir also, as well as leading our Praise Band.

Patricia Berry
Director of Christian Education

Patricia Berry has been our Christian Education Director since July 2012.   Being a mother of three, she understands the challenges of balancing faith, family, and life. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, educational and spiritually engaging environment that recognizes an individual’s journey in faith. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology concentrating in Early Childhood Development from Colby-Sawyer College.  She has over ten years nonprofit work experience in community building and youth development.  Patricia received her Christian Educator Certification from the Massachusetts Conference in 2014, and is currently a Student in Discernment studying Commissioned Ministry.  She and her husband and children live in Mattapoisett. They enjoy going on family adventures, visiting National/State Parks, cooking and exploring their Christian faith together.

Tina Zantrofski
Administrative Assistant

Tina lives in Rochester with her husband of 32 years.  They have two grown sons.  She enjoys gardening, reading and quilting.  She comes from a medical office background.

David Smarowski
David is married, lives in Rochester, and is also the sexton at First Congregational Church in Marion.
