Children & Youth: Christian Education

2017-2018 Sunday School schedule coming soon

Our children are important and appreciated participants of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church community. Young people of all ages are welcome and contribute to church life. We encourage all children on their individual faith journey as they develop and grow in their relationship with God.

Our youngest children enjoy our child care nursery,  then move on to the Sunday School program, and continue with our BL4U program, designed specifically for Jr. High and High School youth to include the years following Confirmation.

Sunday School kicks off each year at the Homecoming Sunday Service at Ned’s Point in Mattapoisett.   Families register their children at this time but can register anytime during the year and visitors are always welcomed. Although Sunday School occurs during worship, children and youth are actively involved in worship as Readers, Acolytes, and musicians. The White Gifts Pageant Service in December and Childrens’ Sunday in June are other special events that occur throughout the year. We have a high level of family involvement in our Christian Education programs.

Ages 0 – Pre-K
Nursery care is available to families with children ages birth to 3 yrs.  It is in a newly remodeled space located in the Family Room next to the church sanctuary.  It is staffed and available all year. Family members are welcome to bring their little one to worship, leave in the Nursery or can stay in the Nursery with their child.  The Service can be heard in the nursery area.

PreK – 6 grade
Our Sunday school program is open to children from Pre-K to grade 6. We utilize the Seasons of the Spirit Resource throughout the school year, as well as spend time exploring the meaning and mystery of the Bible, understanding our church’s faith practices and celebrating faith milestones. Children are grouped by grades for engaging age appropriate activities and small group discussions.

In the summer children enjoy “God’s Garden Club”, where church members connect with our children and share their own Christian experiences and unique talents, including art, science, dance, yoga and cooking.

7th grade – up
Our older youth are invited to participate in Bible Lessons for You (BL4U) on Sunday mornings and youth group (TRIADS) Sunday evenings. These unique spiritual opportunities create a welcoming and supportive venue for teenagers to further explore their faith.  Seasonal programs and participation in church activities, including greeting and coffee hour hosting, are other ways in which the children and adults members of our community interact and get to know each other.  Jr. and Senior High students to connect and share with each other spiritually, as well as volunteer and contribute in the local community.
